B I O G R A P H Y

John Yun is a New York-based music director and pianist and is currently the music director for the six-time Tony award-winning (including Best Musical and Best Score) Broadway production of Maybe Happy Ending at the Belasco theatre. He has conducted orchestral performances in over 20 countries and has performed numerous times on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, The Tony Awards, NPR’s Tiny Desk, NBC’s Rockefeller Tree Lighting Ceremony and Birdland NYC. He has performed or recorded alongside many artists such as Alicia Keys, Keke Palmer, Adam Blackstone, Darren Criss, Helen J Shen, Shoshana Bean, Dez Duron, Mario Cantone, Jenn Colella, Donna McKechnie, Liz Callaway, Meg Donnelly, Milo Manheim, Adrienne Warren, Kecia Lewis, Brandon Victor Dixon, Myles Frost, Brittney Johnson, Paulo Szot, Elizabeth Teeter, Hugh Panaro and Jessica Vosk.  He was recently the associate music director for Broadway productions of Hell's Kitchen - The Alicia Keys musical, Bob Fosse’s Dancin’, and Tina: the Tina Turner musical. Other favorite Broadway credits include Some Like It Hot, and Back To The Future. John works professionally in a wide range of music styles and is frequently engaged for Broadway productions, concerts, masterclasses, collaborative projects, new musical workshops, studio recordings and song coaching. Other favorite projects include music consulting for the 2024 production of Cats: The Jellicle Ball at the Perelman Performing Arts Center in New York and conducting for the Leonard Bernstein foundation & MTI’s new West Side Story 20-piece orchestra score rework.
